Filters - General Information

Every view in Silverbucket has the FILTERS section available. With filters, you can dictate what data is shown for you in that particular view. The filters carry over from one view to another after applying them and you can always reset them from the filtering bar which is located just below the main navigation bar.

Advanced & Simple filters

With advanced filters you can build very intricate filtering - while the simple filters are more straightforward to use.

Filtering navigation bar

FILTERS: shows you all the available filters in that section.
  • In advanced mode: Select the category and click the filter you wish to use from that category in the left column and it will be selected to the right-side column.
  • In simple mode: Select the pre-built filter in the left and then fill in which data to filter for in the right-side column.

FILTER SET: shows you all the  filter sets  available to you. By clicking on a Filter Set, you automatically select those filters in the right side column.

+SAVE NEW FILTER SET: allows you to create a new  filter set . First, select the desired filters from the left side column and use the filters to your liking. After you are done, click SAVE NEW FILTER SET and you have created a new filter set.

CLEAR FILTERS: resets the current filters to the original, default state of filters. This is handy for starting over at any point and will also be practical when you might be missing some data because of your filters. In the default state of filters you have the following pre-selected filters:
  • PEOPLE > Activity = Active
  • UNASSIGNED > Activity = Active
  • ASSIGNED > Activity = Active
  • PROJECT > Activity = Active
  • TASKS > Activity = Active
  • CUSTOMER > Activity = Active
  • RESOURCING REQUEST > Activity = Active
Archived data is seldom relevant in Silverbucket and therefore by default you are looking for active data. Remember that you can always disable/remove the filters if you are after the archived data.

SHARE FILTERS: After clicking APPLY, this button creates a clickable link to your clipboard which you can share with your colleague who might find use of those specific filters by pasting it to them. A bit similar to the Filter Sets, but used more as a one-time-link instead of a recurring need.

QUICK FILTERS: these are two commonly used filters, used to get rid of unnecessary data in the view:
  • "EXCLUDE EMPTY GROUPS" automatically filters out the empty group-level rows in Silverbucket
  • "EXCLUDE UNALLOCATED MEMBERSHIPS" which automatically filters out the empty detailed level rows, for example the membership-level rows, in Silverbucket

Filtering actions / buttons

Two arrows icon: select similar filters for other categories also; can be used to mass-activate all similar filters for each category with an organization node filter, for example.
Disable filter icon: disable / enable this filter
Trashcan icon: remove/deselect filter
Eye icon (shown after some filters are selected): show/hide inactive data

A greyed out filter in the selected filters means the filter is disabled.
A greyed out filter in the left-side listing indicates that it can't be used in this specific view.
