Competency Analysis is a read-only analytics view that shows how much of each competency's available capacity is booked across a given period. It answers the question: Do we have enough people with skill X available during period Y?
Competency Analysis is in the section of the main navigation.
The grid shows competency categories as rows. Each cell covers one time period and displays two numbers in a diagonal split — booked hours (top-left) and available capacity (bottom-right). Cells are colour-coded by utilisation:
- Grey — no bookings and no capacity (N/A)
- No colour — completely open capacity (0% utilised)
- Yellow — up to 60% utilised
- Green — 61–100% utilised
- Red — above 100% (overbooked)
Hover over any cell to see the exact booked hours, available capacity, and utilisation percentage.
Each category row has two ways to go deeper:
- — expands the row inline to show individual competencies within that category. You can expand multiple categories at once. The "View users" and "Filter people" actions are only available on these expanded rows.
- — drills the entire page into that category's subtree, replacing the top-level list with its sub-categories. A breadcrumb appears above the grid; click any segment to navigate back up. If a category has no sub-categories, the drill affordance is not shown.
On any individual competency row (reached by expanding a category chevron), you'll find two actions:
- — opens a panel listing everyone who has this competency and their proficiency level. Names link to the person's detail screen.
- — navigates to the People screen with this competency pre-applied as a filter, so you can check availability directly
