Tasks in Silverbucket are used to further describe what sort of work is being done for the project. Every project in Silverbucket has at least one task created for them. You can have as many tasks created for the project as you wish.
To create and manage tasks, click on the "+Modify project's tasks' button located just below the list of project roles in the bottom left of the screen. This opens up a new window in which you can manage tasks for your project.

To create a task, click on the "+Add tasks" button located top-right of the screen. In the opening window you can edit the task to your liking.
- NAME = Name of the task
- INCOME BUDGET = Amount of currency budgeted for the task; not shown anywhere else currently in Silverbucket
- START DATE = Task's start date
- END DATE = Task's end date
- TIME BUDGET = Amount of hours budgeted for the task; used in some financial calculations
- INVOICABLE, Y/N? = Is the task invoicable or not; used in some financial calculations
- ACTIVE, Y/N? = Is the task active and hours can be registered for it
- LIMITED BY PERSONAL BUDGET, Y/N? = If selected YES, the person can register hours for this task only up to the value of person's personal budget in the project
- TASK TYPE, TIME AND RESOURCING / TIME / RESOURCING = Dictates where the task is shown: in both timesheet view & resourcing views / just timesheet / just resourcing views
If you want to edit an existing task, simply click on that task's row in the Tasks view.
Assigning tasks is done through the Edit Project Role button which is accessed through the project role's ellipsis icon in the membership listing.

In the opening view you can appoint a task for the person in addition to many other fields that you can edit.

In Silverbucket, you can view your project from the task's perspective by selecting the "GROUP BY TASK" option just above the resourcing view.

Once in this view, there are two ways to use timelines:
- Using the task's START DATE and END DATE field's values
- Using the Timeline functionality in the project's tasks view. Timeline view can be entered by clicking on the Timeline button located top-right of the resourcing view
The Timeline view gives a quick waterfall view to track your tasks. In this view you can paint a timeline for any of your tasks by simply painting the desired boxes in the view. As a result, you get a black line indicating the start and end of the task as demonstrated in this video below:
Task's START DATE and END DATE are adjusted accordingly.
