Making Allocations

Making Allocations

Making allocations is a straightforward process that allows you to efficiently manage resources and distribute work assignments.

You can create a resourcing plan for a person from many different places in Silverbucket:
1) PEOPLE > PLANNING, where multiple people are shown at the same time
2) PERSON DASHBOARD > PLANNING, where only one person is shown at a time
3) PROJECTS > PLANNING, where multiple projects are shown at the same time
4) PROJECT DASHBOARD > PLANNING, where only one project is shown at a time

In this guide, we are making a resourcing plan in the main PERSON DASHBOARD > PLANNING view (#1):

Step 1: Enter the main PEOPLE > PLANNING view:

Start by clicking the PEOPLE header top-left of Silverbucket
The main view provides a visual representation of each listed person's current allocations, making it easier to identify areas that require attention or additional work.

Step 2: Identify Allocation Needs

Once you see the listed people, take a moment to analyze the allocation data. Look for:
  • Underallocated Resources: Identify areas where individuals have capacity available, indicating opportunities for more work assignments.
  • Overallocated Resources: Find allocations that need adjustment or reallocation to ensure a balanced workload.

Step 3: Making Allocations

1. Select Allocation Boxes: To begin, click and drag to select the allocation boxes you wish to edit. You can select one or multiple boxes simultaneously.
2. Popover Menu: After selecting one or more allocation boxes, a popover menu will appear in the bottom of the view This menu allows you to input the resourcing values for the selected allocations.
  • Choose a predefined value: There are typical predefined values visible that you choose simply by clicking the value.
  • Input a detailed value: You can manually enter a value you want in bottom-left
  • 'MAX' value: This will try to align person's allocations to the capacity available. Either by adding more allocations for the selected box or by decreasing them.
